Much to the joy of Cinema goers who love the Super Hero film trend but yearn for a different take on it, 20th Century Fox have today confirmed that the Merc with the mouth, AKA Deadpool, will have a sequel!
The eagerly awaited first film, starring Ryan Reynolds in his second attempt at the titular character, was only released 2 months ago and went on to become a record breaker, grossing over 750 million dollars world wide so far and impressing audiences and critics alike with it’s unique, fourth-wall-breaking approach to the genre.
The creative team from the first film, including Visually Effects Artist turned director Tim Miller and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wenick, will all return for the sequel, alongside star Ryan Reynolds, who recently announced he was to become a father for the second time.
While the news of a sequel is certainly exciting, it’s hardly surprising given what a massive hit the first one turned out to be, and the fact it took home numerous award last week at the MTV Movie Awards, including Best Comedic Performance for Ryan Reynolds (who spent years spearheading the campaign to bring Deadpool to the screen), and Best Fight.
